Fracture Modeling

The Continuous Fracture Modeling (CFM) Technology was developed by Prism Seismic principals in the early 90’s to characterize fractured reservoirs. The CFM approach has the ability to predict fracture density in 3D with a useful vertical resolution of a few meters; can use any type of fracture indicator and not be limited to image logs as in the DFN approach; can use multiple 3D high resolution seismic attributes to provide interwell information; and can generate a fracture permeability and porosity that is able to match most of the individual well performances when input in a reservoir simulator. These unique capabilities can be achieved by using REFRACT, which has been used throughout the world in the most complex projects. Unlike all other fracture modeling technologies, the CFM technology was proven with the drill bit and results comparing the predicted versus actual fracture density were published by Prism Seismic clients.
